A crazy fad back in the 1960s was to see how many college students could fit into a telephone booth. No one was hurt aside from some bruises. In today’s world, kids would ask, “What’s a telephone booth?” Two crazy fads going around with today’s youth involve eating a spoonful of powdered cinnamon and sniffing a condom.

Before you blindly jump on the band wagon for these fads, be sure to learn what can happen to you. First, the deal with eating a spoonful of cinnamon is that powdered cinnamon that is put in contact with moisture immediately turns into a thick substance with the consistency of toothpaste making it difficult to swallow. The person trying to eat the cinnamon might quickly drink milk, cola or water thinking this will help them swallow the cinnamon, but this only adds to the problem. If the cinnamon gets into the lungs, the person trying to swallow it will die. Thousands of kids who have tried this fad have lost use of one lung and others suffered damage to their lungs that can never be repaired.

Sniffing a condom up a nasal passage and pulling it out through the roof of the mouth does not seem like fun. If the person attempting this stunt happens to be allergic to latex, he/she could die. The condom might get stuck inside the head calling for a trip to the emergency room. All in all, kids need to find better ways to have fun.
